Shift Supervisor
Granton, Nova Scotia
Come join the growing team at one of Nova Scotia’s largest manufacturing operations! Located in northern Nova Scotia, close to warm-water beaches and communities with a rich, Scottish heritage, Michelin Pictou County manufactures rubber mixes and process components for other North American plants, as well as passenger car and light truck winter tires for the North American market.
The Opportunity
As a Shift Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our facility as the staff representative on shift. You will coordinate production and support operations and maintenance teams with the shared goals of safety, quality, cost and delivery.
What you will do:
- provide leadership, support, and direction to operations on a 12-hour rotating shift (including nights and weekends);
- ensure teams are operating following all safety practices and policies, coaching as required;
- respond to the needs of the facility during your shift and coordinate solutions for production disruptions such as machine downtime, workforce shortages, or supply interruptions;
- be the primary point of contact for communicating changes and operational updates;
- provide a safe working environment for all employees and ensure safe operating conditions of equipment, and, follow up on any incidents or issues;
- use Michelin’s problem-solving tools to conduct root cause analysis and develop effective solutions; and,
- interact with planning systems to support resource allocation and production goals.
What you will bring:
- diploma or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience;
- 2+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment;
- experience working in a mentor and/or employee development role;
- strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, including development of positive relationships with internal plant customers;
- Microsoft Excel data analysis proficiency;
- ability to work independently and achieve goals; and,
- demonstrated teamwork and resource planning skills.
