Overview

Michelin is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineer - Track & System to join our team in Peosta. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical support for product design, ensuring all designs meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for product engineering matters, working closely with internal partners.
  • Provide technical expertise to the engineering team, specifically in bearings, seals, and gears.
  • Lead small-scale projects passionate about continuous improvement, determining the best solutions to improve product performance.
  • Build detailed 3D models of potential solutions, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop and investigate cost-saving technical solutions, successfully implementing them to optimize efficiency.
  • Perform root cause analyses on product-related issues, identifying and resolving problems effectively.
  • Work with various components during failure investigations, ensuring comprehensive analysis and resolution.
  • Analyze deviation requests to protect the integrity of the product, maintaining high standards.
  • Develop technical solutions to resolve issues, ensuring successful implementation.
  • Update and maintain DFMEA and DVP&R to evaluate risks associated with proposed design solutions.
  • Perform validation activities for proposed design solutions, including hand calculations, FEA, lab tests, and field tests.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing valuable insights and feedback.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed changes with different collaborators, including cost, manufacturing, and service considerations.
  • Provide updates to the CES team to maintain the CIM database, ensuring all information is current and accurate.
  • Ensure technical documentation, including models, drawings, and related ECNs, is up to date.
  • Initiate and manage the ECR/ECN process, ensuring accurate completion of engineering tasks.
  • Provide technical support to the procurement team, engaging in discussions with suppliers and DPARs.
  • Offer technical support to the plant for key manufacturing processes, including bearing setting, seal assembly, and painting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, with a proven track record of success.
  • PE (Professional Engineer License) is a plus, as you may need to sign off on designs.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in heavy machinery.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and casting.
  • Familiarity with the product development process (PDP).
  • Proficient in geometrical tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Skilled in using 3D software for design (CREO is an asset).
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems using a structured methodology.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, with autonomy and initiative.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to assist others.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical failure analysis.
